Bringing a new life into the world is a remarkable journey, but let's talk about something many of us face on this path—postpartum weight gain. Like many, I found myself eating in response to cravings during pregnancy, leading to a weight gain that felt overwhelming once my daughter was born. After witnessing the scale hit 218 pounds, reality struck hard. It was a number I never thought I'd see.
The Reality Check
The moment that sparked change for me was a struggle to climb the stairs. Winded midway, I promised myself that post-pregnancy, I would reclaim my health. Having been reasonably fit pre-pregnancy, the extra weight felt like a significant setback. The joy of caring for my newborn was often tinged with feelings of how I had let my weight slip away from me. Balancing a baby, a career, and a home seemed insurmountable, making any hope of returning to my former self feel distant.
A Shift in Focus
In our fast-paced lives, self-care often takes a back seat. Yet, neglecting our wellness can strain our ability to fulfill our roles and aspirations. It's terrifying to face health scares or a closet full of clothes that no longer fit. Instead of associating aging with physical decline, why not envision it as an opportunity to enjoy more of life?
